Flight Lesson@ Kaikoura Aero Club Airport, NZ

Original Date: 2/21/2016

Heavy rains, flooding and road closures cancelled my much anticipated helihike to the Franz Glacier (West Coast, NZ).

In leui of helihiking, I packed up and travelled northeast along the coast to Kaikoura Airport to meet up with a flight instructor, Matt Eastman.

Turned out to be a beautiful day for a flying lesson along the northeast coast of NZ.

Thanks, Matt! A great alternative to my helihike.

Kawarau Bridge Bungy Centre – The Original Bridge Bungy

Original Post Date: 2/16/16

Let’s face it. Queenstown is the adventure capital of the World. It is also the “home” of Bungy jumping.

In November 1988, AJ Hackett and Henry van Asch created the first commercial Bungy Jump Site, off the historic Kawarau Suspension Bridge.

28 years later….. this thrill-seeker took her first bridge jump plunging 43 meters (or 141.07612 feet) towards the turquoise waters below.

In a word: exhilarating.

NZ Classic Motorcycles, Ltd.

Original Post Date: 2/12/16

Browsing one of the most extensive motorcycle collections in the world (300 classic and vintage bikes) courtesy Tom Sturgess.

My favorite highlight of the visit: The V 1000. A carbon race bike produced by the late great John Britten. Only 10 in existence. All apparently housed in museums and private collections around the world.

Today, I had the pleasure to view 3 of the 10 Britten carbon race bikes.
