The purpose of this fund is three fold:
1. To give 40% of the proceeds raised to charities and philanthropic endeavors that empower girls and young women to Aspire|Believe|Achieve their goa(s) (whether its athletic, academic or in the arts);
2. To give 40% of the proceeds raised to the Scott Rigsby Foundation (www.scottrigsbyfoundation.com).
I chose the Scott Rigsby Foundation because not only is he a good friend of mine, he is a mentor to many, an athlete and a wonderful philanthropist; and,
3. 20% of the proceeds raised will be retained to cover administrative, blogging and other costs associated with my participation in the race.
Please help me raise $26,200.00, and let’s match that for every 26.2 miles I run the week of February 8th thru February 14, 2015. With your help, we can make a positive impact in the lives of others.

Prelude to the Triple 7

Can you find me in the photo?
Hello, World. A new blogger is born. My name is Kim Pursley and I am a participant in the Triple 7 Quest. The quest is an amazing endurance race that will challange my mental and physical abilities and willpower. The Triple 7 brings runners from across the globe over 7 days to run 7 official marathons on 7 continents. My journey for the Triple 7 – or I should say my journey to cover a marathon on every continent – began long before today. It was founded back in September of 2010, shortly after completing the Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach Half Marathon. A friend left me an article about how few women have every raced a marathon on every continent. Something about the story and the lack of participation of women compelled me to take the lead. At the end of 2010, I started my own quest to cover a marathon on every continent. I decided my first marathon would take place in Europe on April 10, 2011. The city: Paris. It would be an early birthday gift to myself. My first official 26.2 miles would take place in one of the most beautiful cities in the world surrounded by 40,000 other like-minded individuals. I finished the Paris Marathon in 4:18:24. I prepared for the race using online materials, most notably training schedules provided by Hal Higdon. I trained on my own and organized my own travel for my very first trip. I was elated. Do you think you can spot me in the Paris Marathon start photo provided above? It’s funny…. how a pink visor would be the trademark symbol of my journey and a way to find me in photos to come.
